As an author there is something magical about that moment when one of my favorite people (the UPS man) drops off boxes. Regardless of what’s in the box, it feels like Christmas. What did I order and forget about? What new treasure awaits wrapped inside a nest of bubble wrap?
Then there’s the time when he drops off a couple boxes and I note a label that suggest it’s more than just another box. Instead, nestled inside the dead weight is a new book!
Even though I’ve spent months dreaming up an idea, waiting for a publisher to become as impassioned as I am, writing the story, editing said story, and oohing and aahing the first time I see the cover, there is something…magical…about holding a copy in my hands the first time.
Where Treetops Glisten is extra special to me because I dreamed up the general idea to do a collection of Christmas romance with what I called the WWII Dream Team. Then to my delight, Sarah Sundin and Tricia Goyer caught the vision and were just as excited about it as I was. Then Waterbrook caught the vision, and this beautiful book is the result. September 16 the book releases, but I couldn’t wait to share it with you! You can read a sneak peak of the prologue and first chapter here.
As you read this, it may be 90 degrees with 85% humidity, but within the covers of this book, it’s Christmas time. Bing Crosby is crooning that it’s a White Christmas, and burdened hearts are opening to love.

My favorite Christmas tradition is probably decorating the tree. I have a stack of Christmas records that I listen to of people like Andy Williams, Doris Day, Julie Andrews, Bing Crosby, etc. They sound so much better on the record player! I have a collection of Christmas books that I re-read every December. This one will be added I’m sure!

I know they say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but I do. That cover is beautiful. This book looks like it will be terrific especially with the Christmas theme.

My favorite Christmas tradition is candle light service at church.

We used to do that with my Grandparents. Such a special service, that I added it to the book.
My favorite Christmas tradition would have to be dinner. Everyone sitting at the table together and enjoying each others company. I also love how every Christmas Eve service at my church we light candles. There are thousands of candles and they are the only thing lighting the room. A reminder that we should let our light so shine before men and glorify our Father in heaven.

I make Chocolate Covered Cherries at Christmas. My aunt taught me how to do it (after I begged her) Before that she was the one who made them at Christmas and gave them as gifts. Once I learned how to make them it became a contest between us every year to see who made the most. My aunt is gone now but this has become my yearly tradition.

We have a manger scene with a removable baby Jesus. He stays hidden until Christmas morning where He “magically” appears. My son is 26 but when he was quite small he came downstairs Christmas mornings and looked for Baby Jesus before he even looked to see what “Santa” brought!
Hi Cara, we have always had the tradition of our son placing the star on top of the tree since he was one years old, but this past Jan18th he died suddenly of heart attack so we are at a loss as far as Christmas goes and dont know what we will do now.

One of my favorite traditions is watching White Christmas. It is usually the first Christmas movie that I watch every year.
Last year,my husband and I were alone on Christmas Day (family were all with their inlaws) and so we found a local restaurant that was open and went out for Christmas Dinner. Surprisingly, we really enjoyed the day with just the two of us. That might be a new tradition! However, spending time with family is my favourite part of the Christmas season. Celebrating Christmas with family happens whether it is on December 25 or another December day.
PS – and I must watch Charlie Brown’s Christmas! I’ve been watching that almost every year since I was six!
My favorite Christmas tradition is gathering around the tree and singing Silent Night and then reading Luke 2 before we start to open presents.

My favorite Christmas tradition is going to my parent’s home on Christmas Eve to have dinner and exchange gifts. My mom always ‘disappears’, and after a few minutes we hear bells jingling as she makes her way back into the room dressed as Mrs. Claus. We all look forward to this, even though we are grown with children and grandchildren of our own. And though we all know it’s going to happen, we get so exited and cheer when we hear the jingling bells.
It’s already cold here! We got down to 33 F last night, but that’s still much warmer than when Christmas is here! My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the tree and the living room and getting to look at the tree all lit up when it’s dark in the room!
It’s so hard to choose ONE favorite tradition…

Now that my kids are a little older, I like putting up our small Christmas tree with their help. We do it the Sunday after Thanksgiving and they like looking at all the ornaments we’ve collected.
my tradition would be decorating the tree with Christmas music. Then when we open gifts the Christmas Story is told first before the gifts are given.
