Help! Retitle My Book Giveaway

In 2012, Barbour released A Wedding Transpires on Mackinac Island as part of one of their fiction lines. I love this story. It’s set on one of my favorite places to escape and combines a blend of romance and suspense. In many ways, it was my first foray into the full length story telling like the Hidden Justice series. It was well received by readers, and about a year ago I got the rights back to the story.

That means I’ve reread it, had it copy edited, and am now getting ready for a fresh cover for the book. But it means it also needs a title that better matches the mystery/suspense genre.

That’s where y’all come in.

You know me. You know my writing. So I need your help. And because I’m grateful for your amazing ingenuity and inspiration, I’m running a giveaway, but will also sell my in stock copies of A Wedding Transpires on Mackinac Island for $4 plus $3.00 shipping and handling. Back Cover Copy:

Attorney Alanna Stone has never forgotten Jonathon Covington–or the pain of his betrayal. In fact, he’s why she’s avoided returning to Mackinac Island. But an exhausting, high profile case and an urgent plea from her parents bring her home. She immediately finds herself thrust into controversy as an unsolved murder once again turns public opinion against her family.

Jonathon has been waiting for her return, but the woman he sees now has little in common with the one who left. Will they be able to lay aside the past and let God heal their hearts, or will reconciliation come too late?

A Couple Reviews for Flavor:

Cara totally captured the essence that is the island. You will feel like you’re really there. It’s distinct culture is captivating and the pages capture it well. The characters nab you right from the beginning. The book is filled with intrigue and suspense. Murder — yes — murder. If the characters survive this book it might be a miracle, but of course, I won’t tell because that would be considered a spoiler. I don’t do spoilers. This book is a stolen kiss right before the gun goes off.”

“When I first started reading the story, I didn’t realize what I was getting myself into. While there was definitely a “romance” storyline to follow, I was more intrigued by the mystery that kept unfolding! The author, Cara C. Putman, does an excellent job in drawing the reader into the story. At times, there were multiple mystery lines to follow…and while I was pretty sure I had the one figured out, the other two were not so easy! I also loved how Putman brought Alanna’s past to light, allowing her to work through some aspects of her teen years to allow for continued healing in her present life. It’s a great reminder to us that although the past is best left in the past, sometimes you need to go back in order to move forward!”

  1. Mackinac Island Murder
    Murder on Mackinac Island

    You must have the island in the title so fans of the island will want the book.

  2. Murder and Love On Mackinac Island

    Whatever you decide Mackinac Island needs to be in the title, as this is an iconic destination people will love to read about!

  3. To leverage some of historic locations and to tie into your other “Justice” novels, what about “Unresolved Justice of Arch Rock” or “The Murder of Arch Rock”?

    There are also some keen places like British Loaf, Fort Mackinac, and the Grand Hotel.

  4. I have always loved a book more when the title comes from the book itself. If there was a phrase within the manuscript (sometimes in the middle, sometimes at the very end), it gives the book and theme an even stronger tie with the reader.

  5. What about, Murder In Mackinac Island or, M&M on Mackinac Island with subtitle “murder and mayhem” or, ‘M’ is for Murder: A Mackinac Island Mystery. 🙂 hope that helps! Good luck!

  6. My choices for the new titles are:
    “Justice: lost and Found”
    “Hearts of peace on Makinac Island”
    ” Marriage and justice on Makinac Island”
    and the final title I would like to suggest is
    ” Makinac Island’s Hope and return”

  7. I had a few ideas and see that they are similar to what has already been given–
    Murder at Mackinac;
    Murder and mayhem on mackinac island;
    Island intrigue;
    Dangerous interlude;

  8. “Dark Clouds Over Mackinac Island” Thanks for the opportunity to enter a giveaway! Would love to win a print copy (I live in Montana). Thanks, again, and God bless:). Lual Krautter My email: krautter12ATbresnanDOTnet

  9. Shadowed Memories on Mackinac Island, or Intent on Murder at Mackinac Island or Dark Deception on Mackinac Island or Duplicity With Murder on Mackinac Island or Island Intrigue on Mackinac or Murderous Intentions on Mackinac Island.

  10. Alanna, we need you back on Mckinac Island! Dad and Mom
