Fiction Friday and a Giveaway

Hello, all.

It’s Friday, and that means Fiction Friday. While I’ve been reading, I’ve slowed down a bit, because I’ve been teaching an intensive class at Purdue and writing. Today I wanted to tell you about a book I cannot wait to dive into and a new series I am really enjoying. One is a legal thriller and the other a Regency, Jane Austen style. What can I say? I have eclectic tastes.

Randy Singer’s Rule of Law is a book I have been longing to read. It is killing me that I can’t start it yet, but I absolutely adore his legal thrillers and aspire to write books with similar tension and complexity. His books have a ripped from the headline feel. If you enjoyed Beyond Justice, you really have to try his books. Stay tuned for me to tell you more once I’ve actually read Rule of Law.

The other books I wanted to tell you about are a series of Regency novels written by Carolyn Miller. I thoroughly enjoyed The Elusive Miss Ellison. It had a very Jane Austen feel with a heroine who was from a station that should have prevented her from being eligible for a titled man. However, the man couldn’t seem to resist her elusive hold on him. The characters are rich and I really loved the theme about learning who you really are without pride. Maybe it resonated because I’ve been thinking about the role pride can play in my life and how to keep an eye out for when it creeps in. But the lesson is wrapped inside of a romance that I throughly enjoyed. I’ve learned that while I certainly am glad I didn’t have to live in that time, I really enjoy books set during it.

If you haven’t signed up already, don’t forget to sign up for the giveaway I’m hosting. Today is the last day to enter! You can enter by clicking on the graphic below or clicking here.

And I’d love to hear about the books you are reading and enjoying right now.
