Fiction Friday: Justice Delayed & Giveaway

Cara Fiction Friday 2 Comments

Today’s Friday Fiction focus is on Justice Delayed by Patricia Bradley. Here’s more about the story.

It’s been eighteen years since TV crime reporter Andi Hollister’s sister was murdered. The confessed killer is behind bars, and the execution date is looming. But when a letter surfaces stating that the condemned killer didn’t actually do it, Detective Will Kincaide of the Memphis Cold Case Unit will stop at nothing to help Andi get to the bottom of it. After all, this case is personal: the person who confessed to the crime is Will’s cousin. They have less than a week to find the real killer before the wrong person is executed. But much can be accomplished in that week–including uncovering police corruption, running for your life, and falling in love.

With the perfect mixture of intrigue and nail-biting suspense, award-winning author Patricia Bradley invites her readers to crack the case–if they can–alongside the best Memphis has to offer.

My Review of Justice Delayed

Justice Delayed has the very real ticking time bomb of finding the true murderer before the man who plead guilty is executed. Will Kincaide has never believed his cousin did it. He may have had many failing but being a murderer wasn’t one of them. However, Andi is absolutely convinced he did it, so they make a very unlikely pair as they try to find the truth. As an investigative reporter she is determined to use this case and others to launch into the big leagues of the networks, but at what cost. The budding romance was sweet and develops well, but there was a personal subplot with Andi which was distracting. It didn’t resonate well for me, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the book.

I loved the idea that this book involved a cold case that everyone was convinced was solved because someone had pled guilty. That piece was handled very well, and really engaged my interest. I wanted to know who really killed Andi’s sister. And I wanted to see how the layers of clues and suspects peeled back to the true murderer–before too many more people were killed.

This book is perfect for those who love a good mystery with layers of romance and a touch of suspense. I look forward to the next book in this series.
