Fiction Friday: When Tides Turn & Giveaway

Cara Fiction Friday 10 Comments

Today it’s my pleasure to bring you the final installment in my friend Sarah Sundin’s Waves of Freedom series. When Tides Turn is a story I’ve been waiting to read, in part because I wasn’t sure how Tess would work as a heroine. Oh my gosh! She was perfection. I’d spent two books seeing her grow externally, but this book added so many layers to her that made me fall in love with her. She wants to be taken seriously for her smarts and not her looks. And Dan just wants to be left alone. He has dedicated himself to the Navy, a job he excels at. Yet there’s this subtle tug to each other that both have excellent reasons to resist.

When Tides Turn is the culmination of my favorite series of Sarah’s. It has mystery, romance, a tiny touch of suspense, and a cast that just won’t let me go. There’s realism of the war and what it was like on the homefront. There’s so much in the book that makes it feel like a smorgasborg of perfection. All my favorite elements are included and I closed the book with such a happy sigh. Sarah is one of those writers who truly gets better with each book.

If you love World War II, historicals, and a little bit of Nancy Drew, this book is perfection. Read it. You will be so glad you did.

Now for a little fun. Beyond Justice was my first audiobook and my publisher sent me a couple extra copies so I can give them away. Squee! With summer and road trips on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to get you all set up with a copy. All you have to do is use the form below to enter. Good Luck!

  1. Cara, it was great meeting you at SOKY! I enjoyed talking to you about writing and ACFW, which I will check into. Even though I bought this book from you last week, maybe I’ll win and can give it to a friend. 🙂

  3. Cara, I love your website! If you recently redesigned, l-o-v-e-l-y! If you didn’t and I just haven’t visited via too long, oops! 🙂

Love Sarah Sundin. She has such a crisp writing voice, and WWII is a time period I previously didn’t enjoy reading much about before I picked up some of her books! 🙂

I’m so glad you like the new look, Rachelle! We unrolled it at the beginning of the year or February 🙂 Somewhere in there. Her books are so good. Have you read any of my WWII? You might enjoy them, too.

      1. Late February is when I also redesigned my own website! It’s an arduous process, but so gratifying in the end. 🙂

I have indeed! I have several of your titles on my shelf–and to-read shelf. 🙂
