Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt Stop #22

Welcome to the Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt! If you’re just joining us, the hunt begins at LisaBergren’s site, with Stop #1. If you complete the loop of 26 stops, writing down the clue on each author’s site, you can enter to win all 25 books as well as Amazon gift cards, an iPad and more!

Without further ado, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to my guest for the Scavenger Hunt, Carrie Stuart Parks. I ADORE this woman. She is vibrant, smart, and so crazy talented, it is amazing I can like her so much. You should see what she can do with charcoal and oils. WOW!

Here’s more about Carrie.

Carrie Stuart Parks is an award winning artist, writer, speaker, and law enforcement instructor. A Certified Forensic Artist, she met her husband, Rick, in the romantic hallways of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Together they formed a dynamic and successful team in their fine and forensic art, working on major national and international cases and creating exquisite watercolors and stone carvings. They travel internationally, teaching forensic art to a variety of participants: from the Secret Service to the FBI, from large law enforcement agencies to the smallest two-man departments in their one-week classes. They are the largest instructors of forensic art in the world. Carrie has won numerous awards for her innovative teaching methods and general career excellence and is a signature member of the Idaho Watercolor Society.

See why I think she’s amazing? And I adore her books. They are great suspense with the lightest touch of romance and many have a connection to historical events, which you know keeps me even more intrigued. Here’s the summary of her latest book:

When her twin sister was murdered, Murphy Anderson changed her name and appearance and moved to Kodiak to avoid the press and publicity. But when local authorities discover she’s an artist and request her help in drawing a dying man’s memories, she unintentionally ends up in the limelight again—and may be back in the killer’s crosshairs.

The memory that Murphy was asked to draw was from an Alaskan hunter who discovered five bodies on remote Ruuwaq Island ten years ago, but has only shared the information with the police now that he’s dying of cancer. When they go to the island to investigate, no skeletons remain but there is evidence that the bodies may have been deliberately destroyed. But the big discovery is of a World War II Quonset hut.

As one by one the people who were at the hut die, Murphy knows there is something much deeper at stake. What happened there during WWII? And who is willing to kill to keep those secrets buried?

You can purchase her book from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, cbd.com, or your local bookstore.

And here’s her EXCLUSIVE content that you’ll only find in this hunt!

I never believed I was a history fan. I can’t say I excelled in it at school, nor did I pursue history—with the exception of art history (required) in college. Why is it then that all my books have history and real events as part of their fabric? Perhaps it’s because I want to anchor my stories into the real world, to connect to the important, yet maybe forgotten, past. Formula of Deception is such a book. When my husband, Rick, suggested Kodiak Island, Alaska, as a setting for a story, I knew virtually nothing about it. Within the hour, I’d ordered eight books on the subject, contacted friends who’d lived there (and who were still living there,) and began my research. One event begged for attention from the start—the invasion of the Aleutian Islands by the Japanese in World War II. Kodiak isn’t one of the Aleutian Islands, which stretch for over 1700 miles, but the ripple effect of that event would have impacted the people living there. The invasion was called “the forgotten war.” Perfect! I found a missing submarine, testing of the atomic bomb, the use of islands for biological warfare, massive fishing fleets and processing plants, a large Filipino population, Russian Orthodox, active floatplanes, tsunamis, and a wild, untamed natural beauty. With the exception of the atomic bomb, I was able to use the rest in a suspenseful mystery spanning almost 80 years. I hope you get a chance to read my book. Blessings. Thanks for stopping by on the hunt! Before you go, make sure you WRITE DOWN
