I have long been a fan of Susan Meissner’s lyrical writing. I also love her stories that marry a historical story with a contemporary plot. She has a knack for finding varied stories that beautifully fit.
A Fall of Marigolds is a perfect example of that skill. This story invites us into the stories of two women who experienced tragedy in New York City, one on 9/11 and the other in the early 1900s. The tragedies have amazing similarities not the least of which is a scarf that is decorated with marigolds that ties the heroines together. The stories flow seamlessly back and forth and propelled me easily through the book. I longed to know what was going to happen to both women.
This story will grip you and pull you in whether you prefer historical or contemporary novels. Give this book a try…I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I’ve always loved Valentines Day and celebrated. All my family get gifts wrapped in heart printed paper. And I bake and decorate a heart shaped cake, every year!
No, I don’t have a Valentine’s Day tradition. However, I do work at an elementary school so it’s fun to celebrate with the kids in the classroom. They get so excited!

A Fall of Marigolds sounds like a beautiful story! Growing up, we could never afford to go anywhere so my spring break tradition was to wait as patiently as possible until all of my girlfriends made it back home to share their pics and stories of adventure w/ me!
We usually try to travel during spring break. It is a great time for a vacation!
During this time, my husband and I travel to Austin, Texas for the high school boys state basketball finals. After they are over, we try to catch some travel with our daughter, son-in-law, and precious grandchildren.
No, I do not have a spring break tradition ~ all year any break we get I read and play boardgames/cards with my husband. My very absolute favorite is the two-Jane story and Lucy should have a follow-up! She was sturdy-steady and a dear friend in Lady in Waiting. My ancestors came through Ellis Island. No spring break tradition for me – in fact, this will be the first year I have been back to work while my kids are off! 🙁 My schedule is such that I do have a few days off during the week, though. I’ll just enjoy having them home from college.

I don’t really have a spring break tradition. It’s usually too cold here in Michigan to do anything outdoors, so it’s pretty much status quo like any other week of the year.
Since kids are grown we don’t have any spring break traditions.
No special spring break traditions for me. I usually head to the beach right at the beginning of the summer.

I actually found Susan Meissner through this tour. I’m so glad I did because the book sounds like a fantastic read for me. I love the Historical mixed with the Contemporary ending. Loved the post and the video. I have no Spring Break traditions.

We usually go visit my dad for both fall and spring break. We also do a little shopping along the way. When we get home I focus on spring cleaning.
