From the Start: Sweet Romance with lots of Heart

Cara reviews; 27 Comments

I adored this story of two people who are both trapped by their past relationships and a future that is uncertain. Kate Walker wants to do something that matters with her life. Colton Greene doesn’t know where his life is going. Then they both arrive in Kate’s hometown and spend the next weeks working together on bringing the town back to life after a tornado tore through. At the same time they’re working on Colton’s memoir and finding there’s much to like about the other.

From the Start is about finding love, but more than that it’s about taking risks. It’s about stepping into an unknown future and really seeking God and His plan for you. The story doesn’t suggest that the plan will be crystal clear, but it does show that in the uncertainty, there’s the ability to find peace and something that makes your passions sing.

This book is one I will read again. I can’t wait for the next book. And if you haven’t read Three Little Words yet, be sure to do so — it’s free on Kindle right now. It’s the perfect introduction to the town and the Walker family.

And because it’s my birthday and I adore books, I’m giving away a copy of Julie Klassen‘s The Secret of Pembrooke Park. Just enter below.

  1. my favorite Austen novel is Persuasion. It’s a bit different than her others, and the satire is so very well written!

  2. I really haven’t read many of Jane Austen’s books to have a favorite. As to the book I’m reading right now – it is Dee Henderson’s Kidnapped book – one of my favorite authors.

Dee Henderson is a really good author. I know I can trust her for an interesting read. I return to the O’Malley series often!

  3. My very favorite Jane Austen novel is Northanger Abbey! It’s an adorable story about a girl with quite an imagination… and also, how could I not love Henry Tilney?!

Thank you, Caryl! The Zion Covenant series was one of the first that entranced me. Ignited my love of WWII/early Israel history.

  7. I actually haven’t read any of JA’s books (I know) but my favourite to watch is definitely Persuasion (with Amanda Root) and I am hoping to read that one very soon!
As for what I am reading… “Rise of the Fallen” by Chuck Black – it’s amazing so far!

Happy birthday and thanks for this give-away!

  8. Happy birthday! I like Pride and Prejudice but I have not read it yet. I have watched a film. Right now I am reading Julie Klassen’s, The Silent Governess. It is the last book I have to read of all her books because I read them all. I have already read the Secret of Pembrooke Park. It was scary and captivating at the same time.
