It’s officially summer and Fiction Friday, so today I’ll share a couple books I read either on vacation or since I got home, plus one I just endorsed. I’m also giving away Courtney Walsh’s book that releases in early July but is already shipping, so be sure to read to the end and enter.
Summer Bookclub: week 4: the God of Freedom
Chapter four focuses on the fact that God is a God of freedom. Yet we tend to live lives that are small and scared. One reason is that we don’t know what to do with grace. While this chapter includes many important ideas, I’ll focus on God’s extravagance and the older brother in the Prodigal Son parable. I can’t wait to hear what impacted you as you read.
Looking up and out
Thoughts trapping you in a spiral? Look up and out.
Summer Bookclub: Week 3 God of the Wild
Today we’re looking at chapter three, God of the Wild. This chapter thrilled me because it was all about God and His glory. I don’t know about you, but I want my life to matter for Him and for His glory. Everything else is dust that doesn’t last.
Fiction Friday: A Read for Everyone
For today’s Fiction Friday, I wanted to bring you two of the books I read this week in Italy. Beneath Copper Falls is available for a pre-order ebook sale of $4.99 right now, and Heart on the Line just released this week. Both were really enjoyable reads, and authored by two of my go-to authors. I know with Colleen Coble …
Summer Bookclub: Week 2 Caged by Our Limitations
This week we’re looking at chapter 2 inWild and Free, We have become caged by our limitations. In this chapter Haley addresses head on the reality for many women: We feel like we are too much and not enough all at the same time. The result? Defensive living.
If we live defensively, we will miss the fullness and richness God has for us. We will miss opportunities to partner with God because we are so focused on ourselves we miss the needs of the world around us.
Lessons from a da Vinci
One of the places we went last week was the Uffizi Gallery. If you’ve read Shadowed by Grace, you know that some pivotal scenes in that book happen at the Uffizi, so it was an absolute thrill to go there last year on a tour with the students. But when you tour with a group, you don’t get to savor and enjoy the art. It’s a rush to the five or so paintings that the art critics consider important, and then you move on to the next painting or place. This year we wanted to savor and soak in. I didn’t expect revelation as we did.
Fiction Friday: Suspense I Inhaled!
It’s Friday, and that means fiction! Today I want to tell you about two books I INHALED this week. Both are in the suspense genre and so good!
Wild & Free: What it means
There’s something about the words wild and free. They capture my imagination. Though I live in a staid, rule-laced box, I want to live a life that runs off the path and into wildness. Just ask my husband about the Grand Canyon. And I long to live a life that is free of other’s expectations and the voices in my head.
Summertime’s Coming
It’s summertime, well, almost. And that means to start dreaming about what you want to do this summer. For me that’s a combination of doing the following things. It’s hoping for time to breathe. Maybe read a few books. Write a few words. Time for summertime dreaming with @cara_putman. What plans do you have? #amreading. Click To Tweet There’s something about …
