I left part of my heart in Germany.
And I began to pray almost immediately about whether we could do something like that again. It was a dream, but a backburner dream. After all, God had already done the impossible once.

Today in honor of his life, I want to giveaway two copies of my WWII collection Ohio Brides. The reason is because the middle book in that trilogy is my first book where the heroine comes to faith. The book I’m writing now is the second. Most of my novels contain characters who are learning and deepening their faith. But A Promise Born was different. I didn’t want to write it that way, but it was very clear that Evelyn was not a Christian. The journey to faith was a precious thing to write.
Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and everywhere I turn this last week, God has been teaching me anew about His love and where mine falls short. This song is one that is cycling through my heart. It’s lyrics are a beautiful reminder of God’s love. If I compare it to people around me, I don’t even see a shadow of God’s …
Today, I thought I’d deviate from the traditional Fiction Friday theme long enough to talk about some books I’m reading that are perfect for building faith. There’s something about the first month of a new year that makes me more intentional. This year I want to read more books that will build my faith and mind as well as the fiction …
I don’t know about you, but I’m struggling to believe that 2018 is mere days away. 2017 has been a year. It’s had so much good and some hard. It’s been a year where God has shown and taught me a lot and it started with a word that I wasn’t sure I liked. What’s your word for 2018?@Cara_Putman …
The holidays can be really hard for some. This week my mother-in-law lost her brother and a friend. That is casting a shadow over Thanksgiving. This has been a good, yet very challenging year for me. So thankfulness is more days a choice than a feeling. Finding it hard to feel #thankful this year? @cara_putman shares some perspective shifting verses. …
God promises that when we place our hope in Him, we will not be disappointed (Isaiah 49:23). He promises that His eyes are on those who fear Him and hope in His unfailing love. (Psalm 33:18). David also asks in that Psalm “May Your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You.” (Psalm 33:22). There’s an action there. I have to place my hope in the Lord. How can I do that when I don’t feel hope? Is this a fake it till you make it scenario? Or is there something deeper? These are the kinds of questions I’m wrestling with right now.
I’m in a season of life where I’m being asked to hope about something I don’t have an abundance of hope for. It’s one of those times, my mind gets to apply what my heart resists. It’s amazing how now I’m seeing messages about hope everywhere I go. Have you ever experienced that? Need #hope? We all do. @Cara_Putman shares …
Parenting isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s hard enough to mother in a generation where there are more how-to books than any one person could read. And each has a different strategy, a different technique, a different this-is-the-way-you-must-mother-or-you-have-epically-failed. Yet this ignores several important elements. 1) Each child is completely different. I have certainly seen this played out in my …
I read a ton of fiction. I inhale novels. By July, I’d read something like sixty according to the list I keep on Goodreads. Now I find myself in a season of inhaling non-fiction, feeding my soul in a different way. Today I thought it would be fun to share some of those with you, while also having a link at the end for a giveaway of Tricia Goyer’s Walk It Out.
