Books I’m Excited About and a Giveaway

Life has been busy lately. A little too busy, but I wanted to pop onto the blog with a quick post about some books I’ve enjoyed as they’re releasing, while also giving away two of them. To learn more about any of these books, just click on the image, which will pop you over to Amazon where you can see the back cover copy, endorsements and more. Also be sure to scan to the end of this post for the information about the giveaway. I’ve loved all of these books except for the two that are still teasing me from my To-Be-Read pile. Send time, copious amounts of time, so I can get to them, okay?

Now to these books — there’s truly something for everyone. And don’t forget to check out the Book Talk episode with Deborah Clack here, as well as the Book Talk episode with Jayna Breigh here.

Cover of An UnConventional Lady by Sarah E Ladd

I love Sarah Ladd’s Jane Austen era novels, and An Unconventional Lady was no different from her other books for me. She’s created a heroine who stands out during her time while being constrained by the timeperiod. The hero is interesting and protective of the heroine.  Here’s my review: Step into a world where science and possible science collide. Ella has only ever wanted to prove that her mother didn’t commit suicide, taking unfortunate souls with her. But what can she do as a young woman trapped in a time with little voice? An old friend appears at a conference, and together they try to discern the truth. At the same time, they have to decide what their future holds. Richly atmospheric, this is another enjoyable romantic mystery from one of my favorite authors in this time period.

The first of the novels in the new Haven line, I loved Even After This. Here’s my review: Life doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes it sucker punches us. In Even After This, author Deborah Clack explores life after unimaginable loss with a touch of modern fairytale. Meredith Harper wonders if there could be more to her life than hiding from it — so she heads to Colorado and the Broodmore Hotel, where she immediately violates her Famous People Probation. Harlan is just trying to move past very real past mistakes and find a future that makes sense. He’s convinced that’s with Meredith. She knows it can’t be. This story has so much heart and emotion, while laced with humor and hope, that it captured my attention and would not let go. This isn’t some Pollyanna view of the world, but a real, gritty, hope-infused foray into what’s been and what could be. I loved it and can’t wait for the next book!

Cover of an Appearance of Impropriety by Jayna Breigh

In An Appearance of Impropriety by Jayna Breigh, you’ll find a page-turning legal drama. The author has crafted a novel that is filled with characters I cared about, placed in challenging situations that compelled me to keep reading long into the night. I know you’ll love this book as much as I did. I love it so much, I purchased an extra copy to give away. Read to the end to learn how to enter!

Cover of Hearts on the Fly by Toni Shiloh

I really enjoyed this hockey-based romance. There was so much keeping the hero and heroine apart, even as there was so much destroying them together, the characters were compelling. And the hero’s concern for the heroine made him all the more likable. I really loved my time with these characters, and I’m not even a hockey fan.

Covers of The Collector of Burned Books and Mists Over the Channel Islands.

These two novels are waiting on my to-be-read pile. Roseanna White and Sarah Sundin are on my must-read authors list. Anything by Sarah is an auto-buy for me, and Roseanna is just about on that list because I adored her last series. I also love WWII stories. I can’t wait to dive into these two books.

As we enter the lingering days of winter before spring arrives, I want to gift a few readers books. This time, I’m giving away:

  • 1 copy of The Accused
  • 1 copy of An Appearance of Impropriety by Jayna Breigh
  • 1 copy of Even After This by Deborah Clack

All you have to do to enter is use the form below.
