Library & Book Club Fun

It’s October and there are many things I’m missing as the pandemic drags on. These may be limited to Indiana, but maybe you can relate.

I miss having some of my Purdue students to our home for cookouts or taco bar. I miss being able to worship at church without a mask. I miss wild hugs and even simple handshakes. I miss reading my students non-verbal cues that are covered by masks. I missed having ACFW be virtual this year — wonderful as the instruction was, I MISSED seeing my writing friends and the family reunion feel of squeals of delight when I spotted someone I hadn’t seen in a year.

As an author I miss library events and book clubs. So much.

I’m an extrovert. I love writing, but I love interacting with readers just as much. If you work at a library or have a book club, I’d love to join you via Zoom or another virtual format. I’ve skyped into book clubs before, but now we’re all getting comfortable with other tools as well. While it’s not the same as sitting in the same room, I would love to join you if you’re reading one of my books or just want to talk about what it’s like to be a writer and create stories.

If I can join one of your library chats or book clubs, just contact me through the form on my website (you can find it here). I’d love to join you if we can schedule it.

Are you part of a book club? Have you had an author join you — either live or virtually?

  1. Cara – I am forever looking for a new Christian Suspense/Mystery author and just found your name this morning. I also don’t mind if the books have a romantic twist as well. 🙂
But I was even more excited to see that you are a Hoosier!! I live in Noblesville with my husband and 2 daughters and my 3rd daughter is married with two children and resides in Brownsburg. I have a free subscription to Hoopla and for the last 2 years I have listened to this genre while I commute to work in Indy but I have to add that I also listen to my audiobooks on my commute to the store and any time I get in the car by myself along with when I am alone and doing stuff around the house. I was disappointed that none of your books are on Hoopla but I just may decide to actually READ a book and find an ebook version.
