Today I learned that Imperfect Justice hit the CBA bestseller list in June. This is the first time one of my books has made a list. Needless to say, I’ve been on the verge of happy tears all day. Imperfect Justice is my 28th book, and the story is so important to me that this is a sweet moment. I want to share that with you.

There are certain milestones for authors.

  1. Obtain your first contract.
  2. Win or final in a prestigious award.
  3. Obtain your second contract.
  4. Have a book signing!
  5. Fight past writerā€™s block for your third manuscript.
  6. Attend a bookclub that read YOUR book!
  7. Wonder if youā€™ll ever have another sellable idea.
  8. Land your fifth contract.
  9. Watch a book climb to the top 100 in an Amazon category.
  10. Land your tenth contract.
  11. Hit a bestseller list.
  12. Land your fifteenth contract
  13. Hit the USAToday list.
  14. Sweet to your twentieth book and wonder why you do this to yourself.
  15. Hit the New York Times list.
  16. Get your thirty-second contract.
  17. Etc.

There were days I wondered if one of my books would ever crawl on to a list. It felt like a Jericho I didnā€™t know how to circle because itā€™s so far out of my control.

Readers are the one who buy the books.

So thank you.

Sincerely. I still get giddy and weepy at the thought that one of my books edged onto a list.

  21. Right now I’m alternating between fiction and nonfiction. In the fiction, I just finished “Hunt the Lion” by Chad Zunker and I’m trying to decide what to read next. It was a great suspense book, third in a series. In nonfiction, I’m reading, “Reaching Your Prodigal” by Phil Waldrep. It is the best nonfiction book I’ve read in a long time that isn’t leaving me feeling like a complete failure and worthless. So many books that are intended to “help” us do more damage than good, because they make us feel like we can never measure up to the author’s recommendations for how to improve this or that. Even with the good ones, I still have to alternate my reading and escape into fiction for awhile every so often.

  27. Congratulations! So glad for you! Your books sound great! I hope to be able to read these sometime. Due to disability I rarely go to the library. And I havenā€™t figured out on my own how to access the local digital library.

  37. I have 2 going right now, wait 3 actually. In paperback, The Lord Meets His Lady by Gina Conkle. On my kindle, just started Santa Puppy by Lynn Cahoon and in the middle of Pure Read Clean Read Vol 2 bundle of 41, started bk #20-Lead Us West by Terri Grace. I switch back and forth from paperback to kindle because of my eyes. I try to keep some kind of reading in my purse for appt’s at dr’s and such.

  49. Right now Iā€™m actually between books. I just finished Trauma Plan by Candace Calvert last night and have the third one in that series and Code Triage on hold at the library! Must get in there today and pick them up!! šŸ˜¬šŸ˜

    Now I am reading BUILT TO LAST by Julie Ann Walker.

    I am the kind of reader that likes all kinds of books and the next one I intend to read is by C J Box called ENDANGERED.
