Touring the Bookstores of Florence + Giveaway

Cara Italy 11 Comments

This morning, I’m sweating in Florence, Italy. It’s supposed to hit 105 degrees, without the humidity added in. It’s hard to be too miserable as long as there is plenty of shade and water. This year while I’ve taught study abroad in Florence, I’ve been popping in and out of a lot of fun bookstores. I don’t think I’d realized last time just how many bookstores there are. While I haven’t captured photos of even half of them, I thought I’d share a few with you. The lovely aspect is that each has an English language section. There’s even one bookstore (the Paperback Exchange near the Duomo) that is entirely English. Perfect for the ex-pat or tourist!

  1. Paula, this is strange. I, too, want to go to Scotland. My reasons include the history and scenery you mentioned, but my husband and I both have family roots there that we want to explore. Cara, you may be loving Italy, but I think Scotland’s climate would work better for me.

  2. I would go to Italy again. Although I’ve been there three times (mainly to visit family, lucky me). I’ve never seen the Amalfi coast or Pompeii, two places I’d very much like to visit.
Of course, teaching in Florence sounds marvelous. I’d love the chance to do that!

Pompeii was a neat experience last year. I’ve only been to Cinque Terre, but after tasting that a couple weeks ago, I’d love to try more of the Amalfi Coast.

  3. Thank you! Thank you!

I’ve visited Florence and loved it. The history, the people, and the food were unforgettable. I can’t wait to read Shadowed by Grace, and look forward to learning about he Monuments Men. šŸ™‚
