Fiction Friday: It’s a Smorgasborg

Today I wanted to highlight a few different books. As you know, I read widely in lots of different genres. This collection of books reflects that. I’ve got a romantic suspense mixed with a rom com and a general market mystery. A little bit of this, a dash of that, and a sweetner or two. I’d love to know what you’re reading, too. Be sure to drop a comment and let me know.

From the moment Fragments of Fear arrived in my mailbox, I inhaled it. Carrie Stuart Parks has a knack for creating interesting plots, unique characters, and a setting that lives and breathes. Fragments of Fear is a fascinating story from the first chapter and will keep you up turning pages to see if Tavish and Sawyer will survive the criminals that are out to destroy them. Better yet, a light touch of faith and a brushstroke of romance are added to this suspense novel creating the perfectly balanced creation. Just right for lovers of romantic mysteries.

Wooing Cadie McCaffrey was a fun take on Rom Com, but with some serious overtones. The switches in POV jarred in a couple places, but all in all I really enjoyed this read that had a delightful heroine, a slightly clueless hero, and a sweet cast of supporting characters. If you loved movies like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Dates, then this will be a great read for you!

In the last eighteen months, I have fallen in love with audiobooks, something I never thought would happen. But I love listening to them as a way to redeem the time when I’m driving around town or on long trips. I thought this week I’d include an audiobook I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. It was long, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters and their struggles and journeys.

Last week I listened to The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff. This book is a beautiful story woven together by three women’s stories. Not necessarily a happily ever after, but a realistic look at an important chapter in World War II. The audiobook was masterfully produced, with three different narrators representing the three different storylines. The ending was satisfying and the journey to get there worth the time (about eleven hours).

If you enjoy audiobooks, did you know I’ve had many of my World War II novels produced as audiobooks? A Promise Forged is the first in the Ohio series, and a great place to start if you want to see what audiobooks are like. The Hidden Justice series is also on audiobook including the prequel novella, Dying for Love. I just noticed Dying for Love is only $5.99 on audible, so if you’ve never tried audiobooks, this is a great price to take the leap!
