Summer Bookclub: Week 5: Wild and Good

This week we’ve had some major announcements in our world. Good, but really challenging for me personally. My husband will be switching jobs next month, and God in His graciousness made it so clear to us collectively that this change was a step of obedience. But the change is pushing against all of my fears and inadequacies. It involves a change into one of the things I said I could never do or be. I am so careful to never (pun intended) say things like that anymore, but it doesn’t change the fact that this change pushes against my deepest fears and insecurities.

Chapter four focuses on the fact that God is a God of freedom. Yet we tend to live lives that are small and scared. One reason is that we don’t know what to do with grace. While this chapter includes many important ideas, I’ll focus on God’s extravagance and the older brother in the Prodigal Son parable. I can’t wait to hear what impacted you as you read.

Last week I finished listening to Wild & Free by Jess Connolly and Hayley Morgan. It’s a book I want to dive deeper into and when I mentioned that on Facebook many of you wanted to dive deeper, too. So here we go. It’s been a few years since we’ve done a study together. If you’ve never done with me, these are really low key. We’ll read a chapter or two a week depending on the length of those particular chapters. Then I’ll write a post designed to get us thinking and talking about what was covered.
